Who is Avraham Hadad
I am a strong believer in that the materials surround us in our homes determine our energy level and mood. There is something about a cloudy day and dark skies that makes us want to stay hidden inside. There is something about the sun shining that makes us want to go outside and play. I am drawn to wood because of its’ living characteristics; it moves, it changes color, it has energy and it is warm to the touch.
To me an artist reaches the highest level of wood working not when they create the perfect shape or form. It is when they realize how to work with the wood medium itself to showcase its’ beauty and power. It is to be able to work with the material, not against it.
I use ancient techniques and modern tools to express my opinions of this world we live in. The one motif in my work is the collision of perfection with our own flaws. Working with wood teaches you that your idea of perfection is different than what the wood element can provide. In other words, our idea of perfection is flawed to begin with and so we cannot achieve perfection working with wood. The process of trying to get there is exhausting to the soul, which proves to be (the exhaustion) that we are wrong in our perception of what perfect is.
